Favorite things about my week

1) Watching Carter, Cooper (my nephew), and Maddox hug. So cute!

2) Carter telling me, "Mom, have I told you that I love you today?"

3) Maddox sitting on my lap and pointing to my nose, mouth, eyes etc. and saying "Waz dat?"

4) Maddox learning to say "Beep beep" and using it correctly.

5) Brady and I looking at awkwardfamilyphotos.com and laughing our butts off.

6) Spending time with my family in Iowa.

7) Finally getting the double jogging stroller I've been wanting! I love it!

8) Brady taking care of me when I don't feel so good. I really appreciate him.

9) Watching Carter trying to get the semis to honk their horns on the drive home from Iowa.

10) Piper lost 8 pounds since her last vet visit! We have an ideal weight dog again!

My favorite Bible verse

My favorite Bible verse is one that got me through one of the toughest times of my life...my miscarriage. I would read it and know that there was hope that I would have another child. In fact, the time around the miscarriage is when I felt closest to God.

A few days after the whole ordeal, I was on my way to our church for a meeting about my oldest son's upcoming preschool class. I was praying to God on that ride and telling him that I had hope that I'd have another child and that this would never happen again. After having that thought, I came upon my church and saw a rainbow over it. I was moved to tears. I knew this was God telling me it would NOT happen again. Just as it was his promise once before. And the funny thing was that it hadn't rained that day.

Two months later I got pregnant with my son Maddox.

So here is my favorite verse:

"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:2-5

Favorite things about my week

1) Brady going to Vegas with his friends for the weekend. Even though I wish he were here with us, I know he deserves this.

2)Keeping my house somewhat clean this week. Not totally clean (like that could ever happen with the Destruction Twins) but clean enough.

3)Carter using the sprinkler as a hat (see photo from previous post.)

4)Getting a brand new nephew!

5)A young customer at work asking me if I was 21. Ha!

6)Spending quality time with just Maddox today and most of Saturday. He doesn't get Momma all to himself too often.

7)Eating healthier. I've been doing pretty good this week. Not as great as I'd like it to be, but baby steps.

8)Getting through a line at Walmart in less than 10 minutes. That NEVER happens.

9)Going shopping with just Maddox. I'm giddy with the possibilities!

10)Rain! We got rain last night and boy did we need it. Not to mention it should cool off this HOT weather we've been having.

Some soccer and some water

Carter started soccer two weeks ago and is LOVING it to say the least. He goes to an indoor soccer field where they have the class. It is non-competitive, so they don't play games yet. Rather they do drills and games and learn the basics of soccer. He is having so much fun.

This evening Brady took the boys outside to play in the water. That meant the water table and the Mickey sprinkler. Here are a few pictures of that.

Favorite things about my week

I think that I'm going to try and start posting on Fridays my favorite things about my week. This is to help me be positive, because let's face it, I'm a pessimist at heart. Also, I need to remember the good over the crappy. And when I say crappy, I mean the tantrums, fighting, biting, hitting, poohing all over crappiness.

So, even though I was sick a good portion of the week, here are a few of my favorite things (yes, I just sang the song as I typed it.)

1)Maddox getting very excited for a banana. I think he might be part monkey the way he LOVES his 'nanas.

2)Carter running up to me and out of the blue saying, "I love you so much, Mom!" That makes crappy days seem so much better.

3)Brady staying home one morning when I was feeling really bad with a fever.

4)My mom-in-law coming and spending the day with us so I could get some rest.

5)Finally finding a double jogging stroller at an affordable price.

6)Listening to the boys "whistle" for Piper. The whistle is really just a high pitched yell.

7)Getting my windows washed in the downstairs and getting a buttload of laundry done.

8)Feeding the ducks at the pond by our house today. There were no geese to runaway from and there were at least 25 ducks that came out of the water and surrounded us. Pretty magical for the boys...and me.

9)Watching the boys wrestle Brady.

10)Getting my back rubbed by Brady TWICE this week. He may not be the best at it, but it's way better than nothing.

Cohen

Out of the mouths of babes

Carter: "My butt is getting drowsy."

Haven't done this in awhile

I haven't blogged in awhile...and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Thanks to a friend, I've decided I need to get back into this thing. If anything, it's a great way to chronicle our lives. It's much easier than me taking the time to scrapbook. I do like scrapbooking, but I don't like getting the stuff out and putting it away. I do too much of that kind of stuff during the day with the kids and hubs.

Right now I'm listening to a very tired boy not fall asleep. Maddox has been up since 6:30am and it is now 1:35. He refused to take a nap this morning when he was getting grumpy, and now it seems he is refusing this time too.

Update: Just went up to Maddy's room and rocked him for 5 minutes. That may have been the trick to getting him to sleep. Right now he is laying down and NOT crying! Have I mentioned that I LOVE my video monitor?

Since I'm sick (sore throat, achy body, runny nose, etc.) I'm going to bring this very exciting post to an end (I hope you can catch my sarcasm.)

Opportunity of a lifetime

Brady and I will be at Lucas Oil Stadium Monday night to see the NCAA Basketball championship game. Brady won tickets at work (which is the only way we'd be able to go.) The tickets (we think) are in a lower level suite. We are both very excited. Now we just hope that Butler wins this weekend so we can see them. That'll be a ridiculous night if that happens. Imagine if they go and win!

Making a bird house

Carter has been wanting to make a bird house for awhile now. Probably for a couple of months. He even called up his grandpa and asked him to help him build a bird house. Today he finally got to build the bird house! He was so excited to get to work with real tools and paint. Carter was so proud of the end result.

Gasp...

I'm posting something new! I know, can you believe it? I think that I might actually be able to post more now that we have a laptop and wifi. This whole laptop business is awesome. I don't know how we lived without it before. Especially, with having kids. Now I can actually get stuff done on the computer while the kids play and I can keep an eye on them. I'm in love.

As I type this Maddox is sitting in a bin of toys and has been for the past 30 minutes. He is so content sitting there going through all the toys. Carter on the other hand is sitting next to me and trying to touch the screen and/or keys every 10 seconds. Carter is not as easily entertained these days. On the other hand, he is such a big helper. He really likes to be a "big" boy and help take care of his brother or help me pick up the house. I wonder how long this will last.

Maddox's birthday was Saturday. I can't believe it's been a year since this picture.

Boy time flies and babies grow. I'll post pics from his party once we find the new USB cable to our new camera. I wonder where it went...
