Gonna try and post something

Yup, I'm gonna try and post something here. It has been very hard lately. Maddox is a fast crawler and now a 4 step walker. He is also a little escape artist. He can get out of every area we have him "contained" in. So, needless to say, it is hard to sit down and type when I have to chase after Maddox every couple of minutes.

We have also been battling sickness here. The end of October/beginning of November both boys had sinus infections. Now Carter has an ear infection and a throat virus. He's had a fever for 6 days now. So, he'll be on antibiotics for 20 days in November. Carter has had such a rough fall! It also sucks that he's missed school this week. He only goes 2 mornings a week, but he loves it so much and it's good for him.

We put up our Christmas decorations last night. Carter had so much fun with it. He wanted to decorate every room in the house. We ended up putting some garland in his room even. Since last night I've told him about every ornament on the tree twice and the Christmas story at least three times. And when I tell about Jesus' birth I have to rub each member of the nativity scene as I talk about them (guess who made me do that.)

Last but not least for today, here is a picture that I'm putting on our Christmas cards this year. I love it!

Out of Carter's mouth...

Carter was saying "pew, pew, pew..." while holding a plastic fork like a gun. I said, "Don't do that, that's not nice." He replied, "I'm just pooping you."

Light the candle

Tonight at 7pm I am lighting a candle for Taylor and all the other babies that left us in the womb or as infants. They are gone but not forgotten.

I still love and miss you Taylor.

My big baby!

I thought I should post about some of the new "accomplishments" that Maddox has made lately.

  • Sits unsupported (has been doing really great for a couple of weeks)
  • Crawls (everywhere)
  • Pulls himself up (on everything)
  • Eats all kinds of baby food and puffs (really impressed with his puff-chewing skills)
And he's only 6 1/2 months old! It seems like time has gone by so much faster with Maddox than with Carter and it makes me sad.

On another note, if anyone out there is reading this, how do you feel about giving a 6 1/2 month old the H1N1 vaccine and the flu vaccine? I'm torn about it just because he'll be getting a lot of shots (his regular vaccines and then the flu.)

St. Louis

I'm back! I haven't been able to blog lately due to a virus on our computer. Thankfully, I have a very smart and attractive husband who fixed it!

We've been busy around here, as usual. We went to St. Louis with my sister and her family and my brother and his girlfriend. We had a lot of fun. We went to the zoo, the Budweiser factory, Six Flags and a Cardinals game all in one weekend. Here are some pics...

Sisters and their boys.

All of us before the game.

Carter doing a great Superman impression.

The whole family.

We had a great time with my siblings and can't wait to do it again soon.

Over...

...Carter's pneumonia that is. Finally! After having a fever for 9 days he is finally back to his normal self. However, I wonder if he even had pneumonia to begin with.

When Brady took him to the ER last week, the tech who took the x-ray said his lungs looked clear. Then the doctor came in and said it was pneumonia. Then the antibiotic that they gave him didn't get rid of the fever...at all. He was on Zithromax for 5 days and he had a fever the entire time. Normally, the fever disappears within 48 hours on antibiotics. Whatever the case may be, he is back to normal and I am so thankful.

In other news, Maddox is starting to crawl a bit more. He will get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth then lunge forward. He is really determined to get somewhere and when he fails to move he gets very frustrated. I'll post a video and some pictures later (once I remember where I put the camera.)

Pneumonia

Carter has pneumonia. Monday morning at 1:30am we decided to take him into the ER. Even though his lungs sounded clear they ended up doing an x-ray which is how they discovered the pneumonia. They put him on some antibiotics and we are set to see the doctor on Wednesday morning. The poor guy has had a fever since Thursday, and he still has one. I just want him to feel like his old self again.

In other, happier news, Maddox has his first taste of cereal. I think that it went pretty well. He actually got some in his stomach and not all over himself. We'll try again tonight and see how he does.

I'm just so tired. I've been so worried about Carter and he's been waking up every night with a fever between 103 and 104. I wish I could take away his pain and put it on myself. At least he isn't so bad that he had to be hospitalized.

Well, this post has been very scattered. I'm not thinking real clearly, but I thought I'd post something.

First H1N1 Scare of 2009

Well, we had our first H1N1 scare today. Carter has been mildly sick for the past couple of days. Yesterday he started to run a fever with his cough and runny nose so I kept him home from preschool. Today his fever got worse (103.4 under the arm) and he started to act sick. He wasn't hungry and was tired. So, I called the nurse and she said he had to come see the doctor. Of course I start to freak out a bit. I mean these are some of the symptoms to the Swine Flu.

Once we saw the doctor he was more concerned about it being pneumonia. He did say that they could swab for the Swine Flu, but since Carter's throat didn't look red and he hadn't been complaining of a sore throat, he thought that it was just a virus.

Kids and sicknesses are so tricky. You don't want to drive you kids to the doctor every time they sneeze of cough, but you also don't want to overlook something that could be serious. If only God could give me a call when I really need to see a doctor.

Trying this again...

Yup...I'm gonna try blogging again. I did the one post over a year ago and it's about time I started to do it again. I read so many blogs that I might as well contribute. Who am I kidding? No one will probably read this.

Since my last post I've had another baby. Meet Maddox..

Isn't he cute? And huge? He's only 5 months old and weighs around 19 lbs. He's wearing 12 month clothes right now, and even some of those are a little snug. He is such a joyous baby. He smiles, laughs and screams in delight all the time. If only he would sleep better...

Carter celebrated another birthday. He's now 3 years old. Here's a pic from his birthday party.

I can't believe he's 3 already! Where does the time go?
Carter is now enjoying going to preschool twice a week for 4 hours a day. He loves it there and his teachers. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to school today. He's been sick with a cough and runny nose and today he added a fever. I wish I were like him because he shows all the signs of being sick and it doesn't bother him at all.
And here's my third boy, Brady with Carter.

Don't they look alike? This was taken at the zoo a couple of weeks ago. Carter calls it the "petting zoo" not just zoo. I think he's only pet the goats and nothing else.
Let's see how well I can keep this up now. I've got to go for now and start preparing a meal, but hopefully I'll be back again this week, if not tomorrow.
